Living in Hendra, on Brisbane’s North

Hendra (4011) sits adjacent to Ascot in Brisbane’s Northern Suburbs, Queensland with a population of 4416.  It is ranked the 6th best suburb in Brisbane.

Hendra is a beautiful, safe, family-oriented suburb, with close proximity to some of the best private schools in Brisbane.  It is a small established residential area, with some industrial and small commercial areas mainly lining Nudgee Road.  In spring, jacarandas turn the streets purple. It is also home to the renowned Doomben Racecourse, which hosts many of the pre-eminent race-days throughout the year.

The suburb is about 6 kilometres from Queensland’s capital city of Brisbane. And it is very close to Brisbane International and Domestic airports and the Gateway Arterial.  Public transport services in the area are abundant with the northern train line running through the suburb and Hendra, Albion, Wooloowin, Eagle Junction, and Toombul train stations all close by. Regular bus services also make access to the CBD easy for Hendra residents.

Hendra has popular coffee shops and cafes.  In addition, neighbouring suburbs of Ascot and Hamilton are popular for restaurants and activities (Eat Street Markets, Portside, Racecourse Road and Eagle Farm weekend markets).

In the middle of Hendra, is one of the prettiest parks in Brisbane, TC Beirne Park.  This park is popular for children’s birthday parties and weekend picnics. Healthworks Fitness Centre in Hendra is like a country club with a tennis court, swimming pool and sauna. DFO at the airport is only a few minutes away with a 24hr Woolworths for busy commuters.

Toombul Shopping Centre is the nearest major shopping mall, but there are some local shops on Junction Road and Sandgate Road.
